I love my tricycle!
When I tell people I am going for a tricycle ride, I am sure this is what they picture–a smiling, old lady on a kids tricycle, streamers and all, tooling down the sidewalk.
I love biking and always have. It feels so good to be outside and have the wind blowing on your face and to smell the fresh ocean air. I wanted to go biking all the time, but there was a problem. I had a severe balance issue. I was having difficulty with walking and stability. When you only have two wheels under you, you have to remain steady and stable to stay up, or you will have a major accident. I would see my husband riding and I was so sad. I wanted to be on the open road. Ok, not so open, but at least be able to bike near the ocean, or maybe in the neighborhood. Nasr kept telling me I didn’t need a tricycle, but I knew I needed one if I ever wanted to go biking again.
So, I ignored my husband and bought a Lectric bike. The company spelled it wrong, I didn’t. I think the XP stands for eXtra Pounds. This thing is very heavy. My very strong son in law could not lift the box it came in, he had to push it through his front door. Yes, I had it delivered to him so I avoided an argument. It had to be fait accompli, as in it is better to ask forgiveness rather than permission. My son in law was an angel and assembled it for me. He also ordered it for me, but I paid for it.

In the picture below you can see there are a lot of hills. I really do use this bike for exercising. I love meandering along the streets. I am proud of myself, there is only one hill that I have to use the Tour gear, which is the next up from the lowest. Otherwise I stay in Eco, the lowest gear. You have to be a very accomplished bike rider to ride these hills without an electric bike.
As you can see the ocean is only a few minutes by bike from our house. Carlsbad Blvd along the beach is relatively flat, except for one really big hill.
Only one thing is missing for the little old lady from Car-ls-ba-ad
